Helen Cathcart is an experienced interiors and lifestyle photographer specialising in finding the beauty in any subject. She is known for her work with interiors designers, luxury hotels and restaurants, who value her editorial approach as seen in the best publications. Helen has been described as having an emotional intelligence in her photos which captures how the space was intended to feel, not just how it looks.
Her photos have a painterly, atmospheric quality due to her mastery at using available light, embracing depth and shadow, giving as natural a look as possible. Storytelling and mood are an important part of her work. With an MA in Design and Art Direction and experience working at WPP branding agency Landor, this brings another layer of experience to Helen’s shoots.
Over the course of her career, she’s ridden with gauchos across Patagonia, hung out of helicopters in the Seychelles and driven across vast deserts – all in the name of that perfect shot. The likes of Yotam Ottlenghi, Tom Kerridge and countless other top chefs are no stranger to her lens – and there is nothing about a luxury hotel she doesn’t understand!
Her work is coveted and commissioned by magazines such as Conde Nast Traveller, Architectural Digest, House and Garden and Australian Gourmet Traveller.
Helen is also the co-founder of BOLDER, a project championing inspirational people over the age of 70 which has been published as a book.
Named as one of the Best 23 Interior Photographers in the world by The Agents Club and listed in Architectural Digest’s 100 Approved Photographer’s List.
Finalist in the 2015, 2016 and 2019 Pink Lady Food Photographer Awards
